17 - 26 July 2011
Sporting Destinations has joined forces with Brothers
Sports of South Africa to offer exciting travel packages
to the schools hockey event of the year!
The Festival, known locally as
the ‘Big One’, has grown from strength to
strength since the inaugural Hockey International Festival
in 2003.
The majority of the matches will be played at 3 venues - Hartleyvale Stadium, Stellenbosch University and UCT.
Entries will be restricted to 24 Boys & 24 Girls teams with players being aged under 18 as at 1st September 2011.
Clubs and schools from across the world participate in this annual event with teams from the UK, Australia, Namibia, USA and top schools from all regions in South Africa normally being present.
The aim of the Festival is to allow students to participate
in top class hockey, meet new people and
enjoy the wonderful sights that Cape Town and the surrounding
areas have to offer.
All teams compete in the first stage pool matches, 2 groups of 12. Group A will be the elite U18s strong sides and Group B will be the younger (u16s) or weaker teams. Each group will then be split into 2 leagues of 6 teams. These will play each other - 5 games in total then a cross over game for match 6. |
